BioGENext Conference 2026: Laying the ground for world-class biomedical research in Ukraine

Today’s challenging circumstances cannot be an excuse for lowering the standards we set for ourselves, our goals, and our ambitions, because doing so ultimately holds back progress. We cannot lower the bar when it comes to science, technology, and our ability to create solutions that will shape the future. Technological gaps will not disappear when difficult circumstances do. 

We understand that promising scientific ideas cannot make their way into practical application through the efforts of individual research teams alone. What is needed is an environment where science, education, and industry interact systematically, exchange expertise, and create shared value. 

This autumn, for the second time, BioGENext Conference will become a platform for such collaboration. The event embodies the idea of synergistic academic-industry partnership and was founded by YURiA-PHARM, the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics, the NGO Scientific Union, with the support of leading companies including BioLabTech, ALT, HLR, Empirica, BionixLab, ALSI, and ApixMed. 

The conference will focus on next-generation biomedical and biopharmaceutical research, including nucleic acid-based therapies, advanced cell technologies, bioinformatics, and molecular diagnostics. Leading international experts from Harvard Medical School, Tuebingen University, the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Tahoe Therapeutics, Boltz, and SINTEF will present their research alongside leading Ukrainian scientists and developers. 

For the Ukrainian scientific community, it is now more important than ever to remain connected to the global scientific landscape and to have the opportunity to be not only consumers of new technologies, but active contributors to their development. That is why one of the key themes of BioGENext Conference 2026 remains the dialogue on how to strengthen cooperation between science, government, and industry in order to build a strong and resilient ecosystem for biomedical research and development in Ukraine. 

For YURiA-PHARM, this initiative is a continuation of its systematic work in biotechnology. Since 2015, YURiA-PHARM has been developing the YP Biotech R&D infrastructure, working to build capabilities in Ukraine for the full cycle of biotechnology development. 

A decade of experience has shown that complex, science-intensive projects require partnership. Strengthening these connections today is essential to ensure that Ukrainian science has the capacity to transform knowledge into solutions that improve quality of life and advance medicine.
