Isoplasmyl

Isoplasmyl is a modern iso-osmolar balanced electrolyte solution, the composition and pH level of which are as close as possible to blood plasma.

Isoplasmyl is the first step in infusion therapy!

Active substance: sodium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, sodium acetate trihydrate, sodium gluconate.

Dosage form: Solution for infusion.

Pharmacotherapeutic group: Solutions for intravenous administration. Solutions used for the correction of electrolyte balance disorders. Electrolytes. ATC code: B05B B01.

Pharmacodynamics

Isoplasmyl is an isotonic electrolyte solution in which the electrolyte concentrations match their plasma concentrations. The pharmacological properties of the medicinal product are determined by the properties of its components.

The primary effect of Isoplasmyl is to replenish losses in the extracellular space, which includes interstitial and intravascular fluid. Sodium acetate and gluconate are bicarbonate-producing salts that possess alkalinizing properties.

Key Advantages

  • Compatible with blood and its components.
  • Does not contain calcium ions and has a neutral pH of 7.4.
  • Isoplasmatic electrolyte composition without an excess of chlorine anions.
  • Unlike Ringer’s and Ringer’s lactate solutions, it is approved for administration to children according to the official instructions.

Indications

Isoplasmyl is indicated:

  • for the restoration of fluid loss (e.g., in burns, head injuries, fractures, infections, and peritoneal irritation);
  • for the restoration of fluid loss during surgical operations;
  • in hemorrhagic shock and clinical conditions requiring rapid transfusion (compatible with blood);
  • in mild to moderate metabolic acidosis, as well as in impaired lactate metabolism.

Method of Administration

The infusion rate in adults, elderly patients, and children is usually 40 ml/kg/day.

Pediatric Population

Dosage based on body weight:

  • < 10 kg body weight: up to 100 ml/kg/day;
  • 10-20 kg body weight: 1000 ml + (50 ml/kg for each kg over 10 kg)/day;
  • > 20 kg body weight: 1500 ml + (20 ml/kg for each kg over 20 kg)/day.

Administration rate based on body weight:

  • < 10 kg body weight: 6-8 ml/kg/hour;
  • 10-20 kg body weight: 4-6 ml/kg/hour;
  • > 20 kg body weight: 2-4 ml/kg/hour.

Packaging

  • Available in 500 ml polymer bottles.
